Leah Umbagai

Born: Derby, 1974

Raised by Donny Woolagoodja and Mildred Mungulu, Leah's love and understanding of her culture is graphically reproduced in all of her work. She is a prominent young artist from Mowanjum, and is also a community leader through her involvement as an executive councillor for Mowanjum and the outstation of Yalloon, where she spends a great deal of her time with her son Folau. Leah won the prestigious Marlene Bruce Art Award for Kimberley Aboriginal Art at the young age of 20 years old, cementing her future as an artist to keep an eye on.
